DVSA warns of a major Driver CPC clampdown

The DVSA are now clamping down on drivers who repeat the same CPC module in a 5 year period.

The move follows a review of the Driver CPC directive by the EU commission, which now states that “a range of different subjects should be covered over the 35 hours”.

The DVSA and JAUPT will take action against any driver that is found to repeat the same periodic training subjects as part of the Driver CPC.
The enforcement agency and the accreditation service said they had started monitoring training provider uploads and driver records and could revoke a driver qualification card (DQC) if they find that the rules have been broken.

When you book with us please ensure you are booking a module that you have not already completed in this 5 year period.

DSA online enquiry service for professional drivers

The online driver enquiry service, developed by DSA, has just been launched to allow lorry, bus and coach drivers working towards Driver CPC to go online to check records of the periodic training they’ve done. Lorry, bus and coach drivers can access the service 24 hours a day, which provides a clear and simple online record, showing:

  • the driver’s Driver CPC qualification expiry date (bus and coach and / or lorry)
  • details of each training course completed

Benefits The service also allows drivers to give current or prospective employers temporary access to their training records – allowing them to confirm how much periodic training the driver has completed in their five year cycle.

Driver CPC & WTD (Working Time Directive)

Under the Road Transport (Working Time) Regulations 2005 affecting drivers under EU561/2006 working time includes:

Job related training i.e. CPC Training

level 3 drivers hours & tachograph course

What are the benefits?

Drivers have a licence proving they have passed a test to confirm they can drive a vehicle to an approved standard. They can obtain a ADR Driver Training Certificate proving they have passed an examination and are qualified to carry dangerous goods but they don't need a qualification to prove they have an understanding of the complicated Driver Hours & Tachograph Regulations.

Passing this exam proves that the candidate has a good understanding (Level 3) of the Drivers Hours & Tachograph Rules. This can be beneficial for drivers seeking employment, operators displaying a higher level of training to their clients or operators displaying conformation to authorities and proving to Traffic Commissioners that your drivers are of a high standard and have been suitably trained.

This course is also ideal for traffic office staff and supervisors etc as it confirms their understanding of the rules.

This course is CPD certified, a recognised organisation which gives this certificate credibility.
